about Amy

Amy is the Area Leader of 18 stores in the Virginia area for Sawyer Business Group.

During the week, you can find Amy managing her staff, answering phone calls, attending meetings, doing interviews, updating reports and providing information to her managers about her expectations as well as the company’s expectations. 

Amy, joined Sawyer Business Group in 2015, and currently serves as our Virginia/Maryland Area Manager.  She leads with positivity to inspire others while efficiently managing the daily operations of each of her stores. Her responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including managing staff and their needs, handling phone calls, critical thinking in various situations, assisting through the hiring processes like interviews and training managers. Moreover, Amy believes that her role extends beyond mere management duties; she sees herself as a catalyst for fostering a positive environment and uplifting every store and employee she encounters.

Amy Arthur pursued her education at Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH, graduating with a BA in International Studies in 2011. Additionally, she obtained her cosmetology license in the same year. Born in Carlisle, PA, Amy grew up in various locations, including Kentucky, Elizabeth City, NC, and Hampton, VA, where she graduated high school and later returned after Cedarville University.

Amy received her cosmetology license by completing an apprenticeship program totaling 3000 hours, twice the standard duration for cosmetology school.  Despite the rigorous training, she persisted, working at Steel Magnolias in Poquoson, VA, for three years before transitioning to teaching at Dominion School of Hair Design in Gloucester. After a brief hiatus from the industry, Amy embarked on a new journey with Sport Clips of Hampton in 2015, rising to become the manager of the Hampton store in 2017. Under her leadership, the store's weekly revenue doubled from approx $7/8,000 to $15,000. In October 2020, she accepted the role of Area Manager.

Amy's dedication to her work is matched by her passion for her hobbies, which include traveling, outdoor activities, hiking, music, solving puzzles, and spending time at the beach. She is happily married to her husband Nick, celebrating their fourth anniversary in September. Together, they share a love for traveling, attending soccer games, exploring new hiking trails, visiting breweries, and enjoying the company of their two dogs, Rip and Puppy. (And yes, the fur babies travel with them too)

Amy's genuine love for her job and colleagues shines through in her commitment to Sawyer Business Group's growth and success. Her presence on the SBG team is invaluable, contributing to a positive and thriving work environment for all of us.
